I hope everyone had a lovely Independence Day! I enjoyed my time on the lake, watching large numbers of people come dangerously close to eliminating themselves from the gene pool. If you’ve never been to a launch site, there are launch pads set up around a perimeter, and you shot up and inward. I’ve never actually seen a launch pad set up in the center of a launch site for obvious reasons. This site had one. And there were people occupying it. They didn’t seem to afraid of death or life without a face. They’d light an explosive and sort of linger, watching the fuse burn down, instead of running for their lives. There was also a large number of folk smokin’ around the explosives. That was awesome. Probably my favorite was the unsupervised 10-year-old randomly lighting things and setting them on the ground without regard for the fact that crap was going to rocket OUT of the things he was lighting. I nearly lost a foot to that dim wit. It was fun. My group blew up about $500 worth of artillery, which was enough to last us pushing 2 hours. The adrenaline rush from being surrounded by a total onslaught of intense explosives and fire rain was out of this world exciting! Oh! And the group was treated to the sights of some grade A trailer trash being arrested! (And in the process of being arrested, the arrestees started a fight with the cops that involved a launched cell phone.) God bless America! And God bless Michael Bay! |
