Propaganda of Uncertainty has a bit of a sorted past.  The very first comic I put together was intended to be a one-time thing.  Back in the summer of 2004 I started heavily photoshopping images of places around the world that I had visited, and coupling those images with words and thoughts that sometimes approached 3rd grade prose.  I dubbed the series of images A Portrait of the Earth.  That same summer I was introduced to the world of webcomics.  (Or, as I like to call it, W.O.W. alpha.)  In particular, I started following A Softer World and Questionable Content.  I had started to grow tired of the format I was using for my words and images, and was beginning to worry that the format I was using tended to trend way too much in the direction of emo-rific.  I started toying with different formats, but wasn’t actually posting any new content.  Feeling the need to get something fresh up on the diaryland account, I did a parody of the Softer World strips and called it a blunter world

My friends were entertained by my strip and I was even more entertained by it, so I did a second one, still thinking the exercise would be limited in scope, and still thinking I’d revert back to some image on photoshop steroids with words format.

But then I did a third…

And then a fourth…

And then?  And then…???

And then I decided I needed to set up a separate Diaryland account for the blunter world comics.  (Something I did with Portrait of… but never really got around to seeing to completion.)  That was in late September of 2004.  The experience of setting up and customizing the layout of my little comic site happened to be my first run in with the crazy world of html and the css beast-monster.  <sarcasm>I bet you’d have never guessed that by looking at my layout!</sarcasm>

I updated the site at will, sometimes frequently, typically not.  I had a decent amount of traffic for a site that was as cared for as a toddler left alone in a car in the summer in Texas.  After about a year or so of updates my new content rate flat lined.  Various attempts were made on my part to breathe air into my comic’s dead life in 2006 and 2007.  I wanted to set the site up with its own domain, and give the little comic a name of its own, seeing as it stopped being a parody the second I set it up with a dedicated subdomain.  (I had also managed to unknowingly ruffle a few feathers with the name a blunter world, and didn’t want to deal with the angst.)  Laziness and I fought it out for two years before I defeated the lazy wizard, got my act together, and set up a new home for my beloved comics.  (And gave the comics a more appropriate name!)

And that is the story of Propaganda of Uncertainty!

Of course, if you ask me about the comic, I’m likely to tell you that a blunter world is simply in the witness protection program, and has assumed a new identity, got a new wardrobe, and a made new friends at his new address.  (A new address, in a much better zip code.)

Still have questions, comments or concerns about Propaganda’s past, present, or future?  Feel free to let me know!

Cheers!
